Our board

The Association MEDCAN advocates for more humanity in medicine. We strive for patient understanding and advocate for greater public awareness of the medical use of cannabis. Our mission is to break the existing cannabis stigma and improve patient care. Become a part of our community too!

Franziska Quadri is our Association president. Since a paragliding accident in 2009, she has been a quadriplegic and suffers from severe pain and spastic cramps every day. She actively advocates for the legalization of the medical use of cannabis - her preferred painkiller. Franziska used to self-medicate illegally because she couldn't afford the legal cannabis medication. With the change to the Narcotics Act in 2022, she now hopes to be able to legally obtain her medication from the pharmacy. She spends the winter in Tenerife on the Canary Islands. There Franziska has the opportunity to buy her cannabis medication in a legal social club. She has used this opportunity for years to avoid illegality in Switzerland. Franziska previously worked as a graphic designer and now uses her skills to advance the Association 's website, graphics and media work, and social media presence. It helps to make the Association 's concerns known visually.
Simón Winistörfer, our vice president, has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) since 2011. His journey began with an aggressive course, which he is currently controlling with immunotherapy. Despite controlling MS, side effects remain a challenge. But Simón has this under control with cannabis. He currently has a doctor's prescription and can purchase cannabis flowers from the pharmacy. Unfortunately, the costs are not yet covered by his health insurance, as the costs were rejected due to minor spasticity. His personal story and his active support for legalization make Simón a strong voice in the Association . Among other things, he is responsible for social media activities. His involvement at the international level as MEDCAN's representative on the IACM Patient Council also makes him a driving force in pushing for change on a global level regarding the medical use of cannabis.
Felix Iten, co-founder of the Association , discovered cannabis medicine through illnesses in his family environment. He has impressive experience in the medical use of cannabis and has advised hundreds of people since its inception. Felix has been organizing monthly patient meetings in Zurich since the Association began and in other cities since 2016. There he provides comprehensive information about the current situation and answers patients' questions. In addition, Felix represented the Association at trade fairs and educated the Swiss population about the medical use of cannabis. He is also our representative in the Swiss Society for Cannabis in Medicine (SGCM). As the voice of cannabis patients, he takes part in the meetings and is actively involved in this specialist organization. His long-standing role in representing the interests of people who use cannabis medicinally makes him a central player in the Association and in Swiss cannabis medicine.

Fortunat Heuss is also a founding member. Together with Felix and Bruno, he played a crucial role in the founding of the Association . Bruno unfortunately passed away in 2015. For decades, Fortunat has been closely linked to the cannabis community and has always followed its development closely. Fortunat is an experienced voice and has been advocating for cannabis patients for years. He has valuable knowledge about the administrative landscape. He likes to use his network to represent the interests of the Association . Fortunat's experience and commitment make him an important figure in the Association . Fortunately, he is not a patient himself. However, he says he uses cannabis preventatively to stay healthy. In recent years, Fortunat has been spending a lot of time in Morocco, where he has started a new family. Despite the distance, he remains loyal to the Association .

Lara Jegge has been on the board since 2023. It has become a valuable asset in a short time. As a long -time supporter of our Association S and good friend of Simon, she brings a committed attitude and understanding for the patient: inside. Lara has been providing valuable help in the administration of our Association for two years. Your organizational talent makes you important support. Lara consumes cannabis in her free time. It has no specific medical diagnosis. So that she also comes to legal cannabis, Lara has been a member of a pilot project in Zurich since last year. These projects examine how Recreational Consumption from cannabis could work in Switzerland. Lara uses cannabis from fun, but it actually has a medical background. She uses it to focus, calm and relax. Your personal experience underlines the diversity of the reasons why people use cannabis. Lara's contribution is valuable and its skills are of great importance for the smooth running of the Association S.
