Cannabidiol ban in Switzerland: CBD oil must be made inedible.
Unlike many European countries, CBD oils are not permitted for consumption in Switzerland, but have been able to be marketed as chemicals since 2017. By definition, they are not intended to be taken orally. However, due to the lack of recognition as natural remedies, they can be advertised and successfully sold as fragrance oils or for external use. It's just that consumers don't adhere to the application instructions. Many of our members also successfully treat themselves with CBD.
Many people appreciate the effect
Cannabis teas or extracts from cannabis flowers have been one of humanity's most common natural remedies since time immemorial. And even today you can find information about medical applications everywhere. Many sufferers need CBD oils to treat health problems such as insomnia, pain, inflammation, skin problems, inner restlessness and much more. The possible uses are diverse and these drops are often taken orally. This is no secret and is known throughout the industry. The loophole is used.
The authorities want to put a stop to this
That is why the registration office for chemicals has now ordered that a denaturant must be added to CBD fragrance oils in the future. This measure effectively corresponds to a ban on cannabidiol for oral consumption. Denaturants are added to dangerous substances such as cleaning products so that they are not ingested and poisoning occurs. CBD extracts should now be made inedible with flavorings to prevent oral ingestion. CBD oils as we know them so far, which are marketed as chemicals, may only be sold during a transition period of 6 months. Not a great outlook for the people for whom CBD extracts help.
Well-intentioned by the authorities
MEDCAN is of course interested in ensuring that sick people only have access to flawless CBD products and that they are safe to take. It is also important that the authorities are informed about the dangers. However, it was missed to develop quality assurance measures and regulate the uncertified production and sale of CBD oils. These new measures will probably only cause patients to turn to the black market or order products from abroad. This makes quality control impossible and continues to put users at risk. CBD helps many people with their symptoms. They have gotten used to the products in Switzerland, appreciate them and won't just stop if they get health benefits from them. We find projects such as the Swiss Certified Cannabis , which set standards and help consumers to find the right products and feel safe when taking them, much more useful.
