Cannabis flowers from the neuro login - a first experience report

Wow! Almost in disbelief, I read the following in the newspaper in December 2022: “Medical cannabis flowers are now available to patients in Swiss pharmacies.” I had just been struggling with severe pain attacks that had lasted for more than two weeks. My prescribed THC/CBD droplets were already empty. I only take them in an emergency, when I can't stand it anymore because they are so expensive. It has been my goal for a long time to change my recipe from the expensive and, for me, weak drops based on flowers. This way I can optimize the effect and reduce costs.

First I researched on my own on my own whether there is already information on the medical prescription of cannabis flowers. And then we also exchanged ourselves in the Association Medcan and at the January patient meeting on the best procedure for a prescription. During my research, I only found information about what Swiss patients can expect in the future. However, when I was sure it was actually possible, I immediately contacted my neuro login . She immediately agreed to rewrite my recipe to flowers. She also heard rumors that this should now be possible. Together we brought together what we already knew.

Not much is known yet

We found the name of one of the Swiss producers and that these flowers are currently being imported from Denmark and the Netherlands until the Swiss medical flowers are ready. And both of the neuro login and me it was clear that as usual, the health insurance company would not bear the costs for cannabis flowers. But that's not an obstacle. I have been paying the prescribed cannabist pots myself for more than a year. So for the time being I will have to pay the cannabis flowers myself. I assume that. It is all the more important that the price of the flowers is affordable.

New narcotics law, but no information

I am amazed that Switzerland now has a new law and that doctors can prescribe cannabis directly, but no one is prepared and knows how to do it. This means that those affected are not helped and the problem is not solved. So I continue to wait patiently and now look forward and excited to see what happens next.

My reality is daily pain

But waiting is actually not an option. The pain is everything at the moment, but I don't want to buy a new bottle of drops because I have a new, stronger medication in sight - cannabis flowers. Persevering and continuing to use the black market only helps to a limited extent and is risky for my health. I would like to finally change this uncertainty and get safe and controlled access. By prescribing cannabis flowers, I hope that in the future I will find the right strain that will help me alleviate the symptoms of my illness and optimally treat my body.

Which cannabis flowers are on the market?

Cannabis patients need different types of cannabis and forms of consumption. You see that abroad. I know what I need and that's why I ask myself some questions? Which “strains” can be prescribed? Is the terpene profile taken into account? Will the delivery be patient-friendly? Will I be prescribed different flowers that are tailored to my current daily moods and needs? Things like that are important to me. I don't want to have a prescription and pay the cost of cannabis flowers that don't work properly.

Great effort for my neuro login

My neuro login was now again with further information in January 2023. Now we know more: price lists, availability and inventory, purchase price (5 g à 80 CHF), quality (phh, GID), cultivation land and the potency of 24% (variable between 20% to 28%). Dosing information must be made through my neuro login . And that's the next sticking point. She has no experience and is therefore unsure with the dose. Therefore, she recommended that I was looking for someone who can make a dosage information for my diagnosis. I intervened immediately and point out that if we don't dare to take the first step now, my chance is being destroyed to finally find a constant medication for my needs. I just overlook the fact that a variety is being offered at the moment. I also wanted to save myself a new odysee. My neuro login was more than willing and convinced to prescribe the cannabis flowers. I didn't want to look for someone again.

Collaboration between doctor and patient is key

I didn't let up and so we discussed further steps. She wanted to know exactly how to take the flowers from the black market and how I dose it. I told her about the advantages of vaporizing and was transparent with my consumption behavior. She knows of my joints, vapes, edibles and the approximate amount I take. I can hardly estimate this myself without a laboratory test. I really have the feeling that my neuro login is interested in the topic and responds to me. In addition, my illness is rather unknown and that dosage recommendations are missing. She promised me to think about a suitable dosage because they still deal with security questions. I can understand because it is responsible. I personally do not understand the concerns. I am now waiting for her suggestion.

Further details on the prescription of the flowers

My neuro login now found more important information. The flowers are handed over in filled capsules. These are opened before vaporizing. I had drawn attention in advance that the flowers in the pharmacy may not be shredded under any circumstances so that I have no loss of quality. I have to live with that now. With these capsules you want to ensure that I get the right dosage. That means for me now: 20 g à 50 capsules with THC content of 100 mg. Cost approx. CHF 650.

High costs, little choice – but a start

The advertised price is very high for me. Whatever, I have to go through it now. I want a legal source of supply. Of course, I hope that the prices will be adjusted and, above all, that health insurance companies will start to think differently and financially support patients with cannabis therapy. Otherwise I won't be able to afford legal cannabis flowers in the future.

I'm waiting for the prescription

It is at the end of January, more precisely Monday, January 30, 2023. Why do I emphasize this so explicitly? As of today, you can get in Basel cannabis for the Recreational Consumption in pharmacies via a project project. This is really a day of joy. I would not have believed that this will be possible so quickly in Switzerland. Meanwhile, I am still waiting for my medical cannabis. As a patient, this fact is somewhat sour. How can that be? In my opinion, patients should have been treated preferred. The Recreational Consumption ducks benefit from change, while the sick people are waiting impatiently. That's not fair!
