CannaTrade 2026 – three successful days for MEDCAN
The Medical Corner – all important contact points in one place
One of the most exciting new features at this year's trade fair was the Medical Corner. Medical professionals, specialized pharmacies, and our patient organization were all represented there. This was a great advantage for those affected, as questions about prescriptions and medical cannabis care could be discussed directly with the relevant specialists. Many visitors greatly appreciated having all the important contact points in one place. From our perspective, this concept was a complete success and demonstrates what patient-centered care and information can look like.
Valuable exchange with experts and companies
Friday was dedicated to exchange. Numerous companies and experts took the opportunity to speak directly with patients and learn more about their needs and challenges. For MEDCAN, such encounters are invaluable. Only by hearing the voices of those affected can long-term improvements in care be achieved. Direct dialogue fosters understanding and helps to highlight the actual needs of patients.
Political developments in focus
The political future of cannabis in Switzerland was also a central theme of the fair. The planned Cannabis Products Act (CanPG) in particular sparked much discussion. Various presentations and a panel discussion with National Councillor Barbara Gysi explored the potential impact of future regulation. The focus was on the next political steps and how cannabis could be regulated in Switzerland in the future.
Cannabis in medicine
Sunday was dedicated to the medical application of cannabis and was a particular highlight for MEDCAN. Our Association had the opportunity to present two lectures and actively contribute to the program. Another highlight was the panel discussion moderated by Franziska Quadri. Together with Dr. Nikolai Berardi, Simon Nicolussi from the Stauffacher Pharmacy, and experienced nurse Bea Goldman, a stimulating discussion ensued about the care of cannabis patients in Switzerland.
The perspectives from medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and the patient's point of view made it clear how important collaboration among all those involved is. In particular, direct exchange between the various professional groups and those affected helps to better understand challenges and to develop solutions together.
Many thanks to CannaTrade
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the organizers of CannaTrade. For many years, they have supported the patient movement and enabled MEDCAN to be present at the trade fair. We are very grateful for this. We are already looking forward to the upcoming events: The next Buds and Beats Festival will take place on May 29, 2027, and the next CannaTrade from May 19 to 21, 2028, in Hall 622 in Zurich.
